Question: What is the best writing tip you've ever heard?
I’ve completed a number of writing courses. The first one gave me the confidence to write my debut novel, Bat Girl.
The best writing tip I’ve ever been given on a course is: start your scene as late as possible and finish it as early as possible.
In Bat Girl I’ve written in incredibly short chapters. Each scene is condensed into only what’s necessary. Every reviewer has called it a page-turner. That one piece of advice made it possible.
About Nicky Downes
I started writing seriously late in life. About the same time as I bought my first Harley Davidson and a narrowboat. I write crime fiction including psychological thrillers and police procedurals. My debut novel, Bat Girl, is available on Amazon Kindle, KU and in paperback.
